Christal Frost grew up in Northern Michigan and remembers the old mall, the old Meijer, Giant Way, the old bowling alley and when US 31 S was just two lanes and covered with Buffalo. She’s had a long career in media and journalism, including a ten-year stint in talk radio, prior to joining the 90s to Now team on z93.
Christal spends her days identifying systems change approaches to finding solutions for hard-to-solve problems with and for nonprofit entities across Northern Michigan.

An avid writer and business junkie, Christal is a also a frequent contributor for the Traverse City Business News. Christal has served on many nonprofit boards including NAMI Grand Traverse, Goodwill, Traverse Bay Children’s Advocacy Center, Michael’s Place, Parallel 45 Theatre, National Cherry Festival, and the Old Mission Culture Collective. In addition to her volunteer work, Christal founded the CherryT Ball Drop party for a purpose New Years Eve event in 2009.
Christal loves 90s jams, yacht rock, playing pinball at local arcades, getting whooped at trivia in local pubs, creating local parody videos, singing badly written songs about closed Traverse City restaurants (we miss you Taco House), watching baseball at Turtle Creek Stadium, rock hunting on the beaches of the Great Lakes, and spending time outdoors with her two adorable but temperamental and possibly unstable lap dogs.
Christal lives in Traverse City with her husband and teenage son. Her oldest son serves as an active duty National Guard member and lives in Leelanau County with his partner and their 1 year old son, the best baby in the world, Nolan.
